Yes, professional wrestling is predetermined in its outcome by consenting participants, but the art of wrestling is to make a real emotional and visceral connection with the audience. Often times, the connection is made with real pain, real bruises, real blood. Fake fighting has captured the audience when they shudder in sympathy at a dangerous attack, loathe the villain for cheating or cowering, and express the greatest of joys through the hero in their victory.
